Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

(from Red Auerbach)

Music has always been very important to me -- both as a performer and as a listener. I played clarinet and bass clarinet in highschool, but quit due to lack of time when I went to college (studying physics and working leaves little free time). Many years ago I decided that I would restart performing when I retired --so -- in 2000 (after not playing for 39 years), I bought a used clarinet and started taking lessons (TimeLine Music -- with Bob Lynn). My interest in jazz led me to also learn to play the saxophone. I then bought several more instruments -- 2 alto saxes, a tenor sax, a baritone sax, 2 Bb clarinets, an alto clarinet, a bass clarinet and a C clarinet.

My Instruments

I soon joined my first band (the Wakefield Retired Men's Club Band)  where I have played Bb clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax and baritone sax. I currently play in 3 other bands -- the Allepo Shrine Swing Band, the Aleppo Shrine Brass Band and the Middlesex Concert Band.

I also study music online at BerkLeeMusic -- I have taken classes in Arranging 1, 2 and 3, Getting Inside Harmony 1 and 2, Style Writing for Performers and Arrangers, Desktop Music Production for PC, and Orchestration
